Role Overview

Georgia Shift is seeking a part-time Community Organizer with a commitment to long-term organizing and increasing youth participation in elections to assist our civic engagement, leadership development, and issue organizing programs.

Responsibilities:

Community Organizing (65%)
o Work with the program team to implement issue campaigns and voter engagement strategies with an emphasis on young people of color under 35 to meet and/or exceed program deliverables.
o Assist with leadership development events/training for the community
o Coordinate and participate in community education events
o Support program staff in GS Action membership and volunteer recruitment pipeline to build the organization’s base. Daily and weekly reporting to track completion dates, progress to goals and program milestones.
Research (20%)
o Collaborate with staff and community partners in conducting policy research, developing policy fact sheets, tracking local policy decisions and ordinances
o Attending county commission, board of education, and other related meetings and hearings.
Quality Control (15%)
o Ensure security and quality control of voter registrations are in accordance with state and funder guidelines.
o Uphold data

 

Qualifications:

● Interest with public policy (including advocacy, organizing, analysis, and/or research)
● Strong written communication, interpersonal skills,punctuality, and work ethic
● A passion for, and experience with, engaging people face-to-face on campuses, in the community, through tabling, meetings, and other grassroots tactics.
● Aptitude to maintain relationships through clear, professional communications with follow-through and responsiveness.
● Ability to work non-traditional schedules including some evenings and weekends.
● Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license is required
● MiniVan, Mobilize, and G-Suite experience highly preferred

 

This is a part-time, temporary position based out of Augusta, reporting to program staff. The pay would be $15/hour at 20 hours per week.
