Role Overview
The Campus Program Manager will serve as the direct day to day manager of Georgia Shift’s organizing efforts on college campuses across the state. This work will include but is not necessarily limited to; recruiting, training, and managing student fellows, working with faculty to approve events on multiple campuses, and facilitating statewide training initiatives to aid smaller campuses across the state. The Campus Program Manager should be an organizer at heart. The ideal candidate will be solutions-oriented, motivated, and excited about the unique opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, staff and volunteers on an impactful campus mobilization effort.
Although this role is partly structured around opportunities for personal and professional development, training, and mentorship; some prior campaign or student organizing experience is required for this role. Though, candidates with demonstrated experience in any politics, policy organizing, or issue advocacy are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants who have recently graduated with experience in student leadership on campus are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Tasks & responsibilities, including but not limited to:
● With the assistance of the Campus Program Coordinator; recruit, train and manage student fellows to engage students on their campuses through events geared increasing voter turnout among students
● Identify and meet with campus administrators, where applicable, to build relationships and foster trust
● Train and coordinate volunteer trainings to aid in their participation in direct voter contact programs such as student housing canvassing, phone banking and text banking
● Coach student fellows and volunteers on how to plan and execute events to engage and mobilize students
● Amplify our organizations messaging and engage voters through creating digital and social media content for the campus program.
● And, provide timely updates to Georgia Shift leadership and fundraising teams.
Required Qualifications:
● 1-3 years of organizing experience. With at least 1 year of student/youth organizing experience.
● Management experience is strongly preferred.
● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline.
● Flexible, adaptable, team player with a solutions-oriented mindset
● Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in working with fellow staff and volunteers
● Access to a smartphone, laptop and comfortable with technology including SMS, social media platforms and voter databases
● Access to a vehicle
● Ability to work irregular hours and weekends
Compensation:
This is a full-time remote/hybrid position. The Campus Program Manager will be paid for their work at a rate commensurate with experience. Some travel will be required to campuses in the state
