Role Overview

Campus Fellows will serve as the public face of Georgia Shift’s organizing efforts on college campuses across the state. This work will include but is not necessarily limited to recruiting, training, and managing new volunteers and working with student leaders and faculty to staff events on multiple campuses. Campus Fellows should be solutions-oriented, motivated, and excited about the unique opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, staff and volunteers on an impactful campus mobilization effort. 

This role is structured around opportunities for personal and professional development, training, and mentorship. No prior campaign experience is necessary for this role, though candidates with demonstrated experience in politics, policy organizing, or issue advocacy are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with recent SGA, Greek Life, and/or other large student organizations are also strongly encouraged to apply.


Tasks & responsibilities, including but not limited to:

● Identify and meet with campus stakeholders to build relationships and foster trust
● Recruit, train and manage student volunteers to engage students on their campuses through events geared increasing voter turnout among students
● Train and coordinate volunteers to participate in direct voter contact programs such as student housing canvassing, phone banking and text banking
● Plan and execute events to engage students
● Amplify our organizations messaging and engage voters through digital and social media outreach

 

Required Qualifications:

● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize projects while working on a deadline.
● Flexible, adaptable, team player with a solutions-oriented mindset
● Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in working with fellow staff and volunteers
● Access to a smartphone, laptop and comfortable with technology including SMS, social media platforms and voter databases
● Access to a vehicle or other modes of transportation
● Ability to regularly work irregular hours and weekends

 

Compensation:

This is a part-time position. Fellows will be paid for their work at a rate between $18
and $25 per hour (based on experience). Hours for this role will be from 10-20 hours a
week depending on availability.
